Listening
May 6
Rushing out of the house this morning to get Xavier to school we did one last reading of his book 'The 5 Senses' while we walked. In the rush I left the house without my phone giving me the opportunity for uninterrupted walks. It was kind of like having a conversation with nature and the city where all I could do was listen. You know when you are having a conversation with someone and you can't listen to what they are saying because you are thinking of what you are going to say? Then there are those times when you put on your good listening skills and just listen letting the real conversation begin.
Walking around the city without a camera put me in the place where I could only listen and absorb my surroundings and what amazing surroundings they were! Victoria is such a beautiful city! Breathing in the smell of the blossoms on the trees that lined the streets filled my lungs with Spring. Passing by the Legislature building there was a children's choir singing 'Oh Canada'. I stood on guard and the soft mist from the fountain gently brushed my face. I met 2 girlfriends and we went for walks on Dallas Road and Clover Point. The seagulls fought over whatever random scrap they found.
My senses were elated as I walked around the city and I decided that as I walk I will have a no phone zone day once a week.
